Over the last few months, I have been exploring how I perceive reality. And I came across this TED talk by Anil Seth, which is fascinating. If you are interested in leading change, then how we perceive what is ‘real’ is so important. If we all see something different ‘out there’ then how can we agree on what needs to change?
I also appreciate the worldview employed in this talk too – its the paradigm of living systems.
We predict ourselves into existence.
Three implications of Anil’s work:
- We can misconceive ourselves when the mechanisms of self-prediction go wrong
- What it means to be me, or you, cannot be uploaded to an AI machine.
- Our own way of being conscious is just one way of being conscious.
